Welcome to the Department of Design at Machakos University. Our department eight (8) highly qualified faculty members, with specialization in Industrial Design, Graphic Design, Interior Design, Fashion Design and Fine Art. The department offers a range of programs aimed at equipping students with the knowledge, skills and creativity to thrive in the dynamic world of design. The department is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of creative professionals through our innovative programs and dynamic learning environment.

We offer a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Design and Marketing, a program designed to provide students with a solid foundation in both the creative and business aspects of the fashion industry. In addition, we offer a Master of Design degree, with specializations in Interior Design, Graphic Design and Fashion Design. Our programs are designed to encourage deep exploration, research and the development of advanced skills, preparing students for leadership roles in the design world. Our studio and industry-based training enable students to push the boundaries of their creative potential and make significant contributions to the design industry.

At the Department of Design, we believe in the power of collaboration. Our faculty and students actively engage in joint design studios with other universities. We actively participate in exhibitions, fashion shows and design events which provide our students and alumni with platforms to showcase their work, enhance learning opportunities and network with the larger creative community. Our graduates are a testament to the quality of education we provide, with many now successful professionals, innovators and design leaders, both locally and internationally.
